Attalea Major (pronounced at-tah-LAY-ah) is a province of Viridia. As the heartlands of the Dominion, the culture and society of Attalea Major hold great sway over Viridia as a whole.
Geography
Attalea Major encompasses much of northwest Thadria. It is bordered to the west by the Tanerde Strait and Sea of Ersas, to the north by the Phiora Sea, and to the east by the Granicus River. In the south the province meets Tumunzar and Ertan just before the Tumunzari Hills and Bay of Ertan, respectively.
Centuries of expansion and development have pushed many of the larger animals away from the regions of Viridia where populations are concentrated, particularly in Attalea Major. Farms and forests grown for lumber cover much of the province. Tall cliffs characterize much of the western coast, while in the north the land meets the sea far more gradually, with many rocky and sandy beaches.
Settlements
The capital of Attalea Major is Ilirnas, which is also the capital of Viridia as a whole. The city is located directly across the Tanerde Straight from Felasan - they are close enough that the two cities functionally grown into one large metropolis, connected by tall stone bridges that span the water.
