Pashaltia (pronounced pah-SHAHL-tee-ah) was a province of Viridia. After the Erenon Crisis of the Y9600s, Pashaltia and the neighboring province of Camantan declared their independence, forming the new nation of Pasuhalta & Kamman.

Geography

The borders of Pashaltia were delineated by the Thura River, the Phiora Sea, the Sejur River, and the Urra Highlands. As is the case now, much of the province was open grasslands and plains, bordering on steppe, with relatively few trees aside from near the rivers and lakes. The region is broadly temperate with mild summers and cold winters.

History

Along with Camantan, Pashaltia was annexed into the Dominion in the late eighth century as Viridia expanded east. Much of it was conquered not directly by the legions but rather by local warlords who received Viridian support and in exchange swore allegiance to the Ilirnan crown.

Seeing the Dominion's failure to manage the outbreak of the plagues in Erenon, and the heavy-handed methods of containment to the west with seemingly less concern about the east, the governors of Pashaltia and Camantan jointly made the decision to declare independence in Y9616* out of concern for what might happen if the plague were to spread into their lands. The independence movement ultimately prevailed after a brief struggle, with Pashaltia surviving the war with far less damage than its sister province.

Post-independence the province was renamed to Pasuhalta, reflecting an older, pre-Viridian term for the region.
