Ophiusa (pronounced oh-fee-OOH-sah) is a large island in the northern Sea of Ersas. It has for millennia been under the control of Viridia, which maintains a significant military presence in the two fortified cities of Sabazios and Ancrana, the two largest settlements on the island. Ophiusa is strategically highly important to the Dominion as it provides its fleets with safe harbor while still remaining relatively close to the Hellean peninsula.
Ophiusa is almost fifty miles across from north to south but less than twenty miles across east to west. The population of the island is largely clustered around the northern and southern tips, though the interior and the other coasts alike are nonetheless home to many small villages.
Like most islands in the Sea of Ersas, Ophiusa has a pleasant climate and enjoys a great deal of sunshine.
