Batrane (pronounced bah-TRAIN) is a small city in the Viridian province of Andera. Located roughly equidistant between the central Thadrian highlands and the Caerno River, it has a relatively large population compared to surrounding communities. This is in large part due to the presence of the ancient cyclopean subterranean irrigation, which draws water from deep underground wells and distributes it to the fields surrounding the city. Much effort has been dedicated by Viridian engineers to keeping this irrigation operable, even if sometimes the tunnels become infested by various creatures, as the food produced by the people of Batrane feed the inhabitants of many of the surrounding towns. Before the appearance of the Restone Plague in Erenon, considerable amounts of grain from Batrane were transported west toe Restone, Steel Falls, and other cities along the Caerno River, but today it is largely directed south into the province of Penmaerd.
