The Kurzag Mountains (pronounced CURR-zag) are a mountain range on the eastern coast of the Chaska Sea. Part of the range falls within the territory of Tamkaranu, but inhabitants of the small villages that dot its foothills are independent. Broadly speaking the mountains are more temperate on their western side, facing the Chaska, compared to the arid conditions of the east where they meet the the Taizzan Expanse. The highest of the peaks feature snowcaps that feed seasonal waterfalls, some of which fall for spectacular heights.
Located in a region with some of the oldest known settlements on Kishar, or at least around the Three Great Seas, the mountains have been home to many peoples across thousands of years. They are littered with innumerable ancient tombs, the residents of which have nearly all been forgotten by history.
A small number of blue dragons have long resided on the eastern side of the Kurzag Mountains.
Historically mines within the mountains were an importance source of ore and wealth for Tamkaranu, but in the modern day much of this mining has moved to the overseas colonies.
