The Hethalak River (pronounced HETH-ah-lack), along with its eastern and western tributaries, is a major river in southern Abanir. Beginning in the western foothills of the Cage, the river flows south into the Kirnashal Sea. While culturally considered part of Abanir, the river does not lie within the steppe proper, as it instead passes through a more verdant and marsh-like landscape, with clusters of trees breaking up the horizon.

Once home to the Urkhaim dwarves before their conflicts against the Xuldorai drove them to the Northern Wall, today the giants are the only inhabitants of the lands around the Hethalak River.
