The Black Sky Prince is an enigmatic figure worshiped by some in the Western Coast as a saint or incarnation of the Blind Witness. Little is concretely known about the person themselves, but their followers hold them to be a prophet of sorts, through whom one can seek redemption for actions not taken.
Beliefs and followers
The Black Sky Prince, or the figure who would later take that name, first arrived in the Western Coast sometime in the middle years of the last century of the tenth millennium. Word of their teachings on the streets of Vectra soon spread inland. Though it was not long before they attracted the ire of the merchant-oligarchs of the port and were forced out of the city, this did little to stop the slow but steady growth of the cult, which by Y9970 was present to some degree in Vectra, Sarhess, Gullport, New Chersion, and Almos.
The nature and obtainment of redemption are the core of the teachings of the Black Sky Prince. They do not, however, emphasize contrition for actions one may have taken in the past, but rather all those they did not, which to the Prince are far more impactful. While hurting another through one's deeds may be a single act demanding of remorse, they teach, such acts are far fewer in number than the harms caused through taking no action at all, which are innumerable and ever-growing. To atone, the Black Sky Prince and their followers engage in mass nighttime vigils, offering their time and their voices to those they have wronged. Many also adopt vows of silence for the same reason.
Despite much speculation and investigation, the identity of the Black Sky Prince before they took the role of a prophet is unknown. One of the most widespread theories is that they were the heir to a Viridian senatorial family, possibly from Casabon, who was exiled for some yet-undetermined reason.
