Plegadis (pronounced pleh-GAH-diss) is a small realm within the Western Coast. A group of paladins known as the Servants of the Stag took over the small town of Fallowshore in Y9952*, and have begun to shape the settlement into their model community while they continue to attempt to drive the bandit lords away from Lake Plegadis.

Geography, flora, and fauna

Plegadis is a small region, encompassing the southern and eastern shores of Lake Plegadis. The lake is placid and serene, free of most dangerous creatures. Most of the land area of Plegadis is either forested or used for agriculture.

History

The shores of Lake Plegadis have long been home to various bandit factions who have found the Insparsely populated landscape to be a perfect place to build encampments, from which they then venture farther out towards the coast and the Ludo River. In Y9950*, the appearance of the Stag drew its Servants north to the region. The Servants followed the specter to the region around Lake Plegadis, where it slowly disappeared. Believing that the Stag had led them there for a reason, the Servants debated long as to its intentions. After much harassment from the bandits that controlled the surrounding towns, they eventually concluded the Stag had brought them to the area in order to establish a model society out of the current lawlessness. By Y9952* the bandits had been entirely driven out of Fallowshore and the surrounding regions. The paladins have slowly grown the territory under their control since, gradually expanding north and west around the lake. The Servants have attempted to mold Fallowshore into their ideal community, something neither the former bandit inhabitants nor the more progressive residents have particularly appreciated.

Across the lake from Fallowshore lies the town of Mellima. Mellima is the largest of the remaining bandit strongholds around the lake, and the brigands there have begun to actively push back the Servants of the Stag.

Demographics

Plegadis has quite a low population, no more than 4,000 at the most. The majority of the nation's inhabitants live in or around Fallowshore, with the rest split between small outlying villages and hamlets.

Humans and half-elves account for most of the population of Plegadis.

Government

The Servants of the Stag are a beacon of stability in Plegadis, one that not all inhabitants of the area have enthusiastically embraced. The Servants encourage the adoption of the tenets of their faith, and have attempted to rebuild Fallowshore into a model community for their faith.

Economy

Plegadis supports itself independently. While some merchants regularly travel between Fallowshore and the nearby cities in the Western Coast, such as Nettle Hills, Sarhess, and Vectra, the Plegadians do not overly rely on the resources the traders bring.
