Peleset (pronounced PELL-eh-set) is a now-sunken island within the Akrotirian Isles. The island, though small, was once home to a number of prosperous maritime communities. In Y9645* the island and everything on it sank into the sea, a result of a massive cavern in the Depths below collapsing. Some evidence points to this event as having been intentional or planned, as some psychic leaders of the island communities received cryptic warnings in advance, but the gugs and other hostile denizens of the Depths have managed to keep away any who would wish to investigate.
Many of the descendants of the survivors from Peleset eventually formed the Peleset Union, a nation of nomadic seafarers that has slowly grown over the centuries. Others in the Pelesetian diaspora found new homes elsewhere, particularly elsewhere in the Akrotirian Isles, on the southern coast of the Chaska Sea, or in Khapesh to the east. Though some scavengers occasionally pass by Peleset to search the ruins of the sea floor, the area has no permanent inhabitants today.
