The Half-Suns are a sect of the Bohaari goddess Eraamn. To demonstrate their faith they regularly temporarily blind themselves in one eye, following in the footsteps of their deity. Though the sect does not have the approval of the central church in Bohaar, they are nonetheless largely tolerated.

Beliefs and followers
Those missing an eye, or with limited vision, have long been seen in Bohaar as particularly close to the goddess Eraamn. By and large, however, the doctrine of her church has consistently been that it is mere vanity to intentionally cause such damage to one's self in search of spiritual connection. The Half-Suns sidestep this prohibition by only temporarily blinding themselves in their right eyes, using the extract of a certain plant that grows along the Shroud-Ran River to do so. This condition lasts for anywhere between three to six months, during which time the Half-Suns live itinerant lives, traveling along the rivers of Bohaar and setting ritual bonfires to bring light to the world and keep Ob away.
The actual number of Half-Suns - that is, those who blind themselves - is very low, but respect for their activities is relatively widespread in Bohaar, especially in the southern reaches of the nation.
