The Painted Horse Oasis is an oasis at the northern edge of the Uxtamazata Desert, not far south from the peaks of Mhakan's Trials. For those traveling south along the Hundred Days Road, the oasis and the settlement of Arzatam along its shores are the last places where food, water, and other supplies can be restocked before setting out into the desert.
The name of the oasis comes from the four stone statues of horses, each 30 feet tall, that sit in the middle of its largest body of water. The statues point in the cardinal directions, placed there long ago for unknown reasons. They have been maintained by the inhabitants of Arzatam for as long as anyone can remember, cleaned, repaired, and regularly repainted in an array of colors.
