Yurza (pronounced YURR-zah) is a major city-state along the Taseti Coast in the eastern Chaska Sea. Historically control of Yurzda was often contested between Tirione and Khapesh, yet the city always maintained its autonomy if not independence. For the last roughly thousand years, since the collapse of the Kingdom of Tirione, Yurzda has been independent. The city is located on an island that is often referred to by the same name.
Though it is not as significant of a trading center as is Aradet on the mainland to the north, Yurza's protected harbor remains a popular destination for mercantile vessels and travelers in the eastern Chaska, as it has a reputation as a stable and safe place to rest and resupply.
Much like other settlements in the broader region, most architecture in Yurza is of mud brick or stone construction, usually with flat roofs made of stone, thatch, or lead.
Along with nearby Aradet, Yurza is one of the few cities outside the Akrotirian Isles to have a significant population of Monadists.
