The Akinak Mountains (pronounced AH-kih-nahk) are a major mountain range in Abanir. Diverging from the Cage, the Akinak Mountains run northeast across the Uxtamazata Desert, effectively splitting the desert in two. Though somewhat shorter and relatively less imposing than the rest of the Cage and associated ranges, the Akinak Mountains are still rugged and hazardous to cross.
The mountains are believed to the site of major wyvern nesting grounds, as the larger groups of the creatures that terrorize the people of the Aban Steppe often cross over the Cage from the general direction of the Akinak Mountains.
