The Dasuwattan Passage (pronounced dah-soo-WAH-tahn) is a gap between the mountains of the Northern Wall and the Cage that connects the Aban Steppe with the Monumon, linking together the peoples of the Three Great Seas with those of the Land of the Sun and Moon. It is relatively temperate and verdant compared to the steppe to the east and west, with many creeks and rivers running down from the mountains into a largely forested landscape of birch in the lower elevations and firs higher up.
The Dasuwattan Passage is inhabited by the Dasuwattar, a centaur people who view it as their duty to protect the valley. Other than these centaurs, the passage has no permanent inhabitants, though it is visited by a great many merchant caravans passing through between the steppes.
