Aradet (pronounced arr-AH-det) is a major city-state along the Taseti Coast in the eastern Chaska Sea. Strategically situated at the mouth of the Tela River, Aradet is a major mercantile center, due both to its coastal location and its status as one of the western termini of the Golden Path.
Aradet is one of the oldest inhabited cities on the shores of the Chaska Sea, and indeed anywhere across the Three Great Seas. It sits on layers of ruins going back many thousands of years, many of which date to times poorly studied. Many archeologists, historians, and other scholars continue to travel to the city to research its ancient past, especially its harbors in which countless still-unexplored shipwrecks can be found.
Historically control of Aradet was often contested between Tamkaranu and Khapesh, at least during Tamkaranu's period as a kingdom, yet the city always maintained its autonomy if not independence. For the last roughly thousand years, since the collapse of the Kingdom of Tirione, Aradet has been independent.
Much like other settlements in the broader region, most architecture in Aradet is of mud brick or stone construction, usually with flat roofs made of stone, thatch, or lead.
Along with nearby Yurza, Aradet is one of the few cities outside the Akrotirian Isles to have a significant population of Monadists.
