Apis is a major city in Lower Khapesh. Nowhere else is the age of Khapeshan civilization as evident as in Apis. The home of a great many well-preserved mortuary complexes and tombs, Khapeshan rulers and aristocrats have viewed interment in the deserts outside Apis as a worthy final resting place since ancient times. Some of those less wealthy also seek to be buried here, though they are mostly relegated to the extensive catacomb network below the city. Today around 24,000 people call Apis home, though the city also hosts a large transient population of pilgrims and visitors. Priests of Anubis work tirelessly to ensure the grounds around the city remain consecrated.
Apis' patron deity is Anubis.
