Abydos (pronounced ah-BEE-dos) is a major city in Lower Khapesh. Built upon a large expanse of reclaimed marshland in the delta, around 115,000 people call Abydos home. Though there is not much in the way of proof, legend holds that Abydos was the first capital of Khapesh after Narmer the Conqueror's unification. Though the palace of the king has been located elsewhere since ancient times, Abydos was considered the capital of Khapesh until the beginning of the reign of King Menes II. Today it remains a major port city, with many travelers passing through for mercantile purposes or to worship at the Temple of Ra, the oldest continually maintained temple in Khapesh. A series of fortresses stand watch along the coast, only marginally staffed since the abolishment of the Khapeshan central military. The city faces issues as it continues to expand, running into the limits of the marsh it is built upon - Tarkuusan experts have recently been brought in to advise on the engineering of better earthworks.
Abydos' patron deity is Ra.

- Temple of Ra - The Temple of Ra is a large circular dome, stained glass panes held together by a metal skeleton. The windows are angled to diffuse and reflect the light within the structure, causing it to be brightly lit in an array of colors almost no matter the time of day.
