Plegadis (pronounced pleh-GAH-diss) is a small realm within the Western Coast. A group of Erastilian paladins have taken over the small town of Fallowshore, and now use the town as a base for their continued attempts to drive the bandit lords away from Lake Plegadis.
Geography, flora, and fauna
Plegadis is a small region, encompassing the southern and eastern shores of Lake Plegadis. The lake is placid and serene, free of most dangerous creatures. Most of the land area of Plegadis is either forested or used for agriculture.
History
The shores of Lake Plegadis have long been home to various bandit factions who have found the sparsely populated landscape to be a perfect place to build encampments, from which they then venture farther out towards the coast and the Ludo River. By Y9950*, the actions of these bandits had attracted the attention of a small group of Erastilian paladins calling themselves the Servants of the Stag. The bandits of Fallowshore were defeated and pushed out of town in Y9952*, and the paladins have slowly grown the territory under their control since.
Across the lake from Fallowshore lies the town of Mellima. Mellima is the largest of the remaining bandit strongholds around the lake, and the brigands here have begun to actively push back the Servants of the Stag.
Demographics
Plegadis has quite a low population, no more than 4,000 at the most. The majority of the nation's inhabitants live in or around Fallowshore, with the rest split between small outlying villages and hamlets.
Humans, halflings, and half-elves account for most of the population of Plegadis.
Government
The Servants of the Stag are a beacon of stability in Plegadis, one that not all inhabitants of the area have enthusiastically embraced. The Servants encourage the adoption of the tenets of Erastil, and have attempted to rebuild Fallowshore into a model community for their faith.
Economy
Plegadis supports itself independently. While some merchants regularly travel between Fallowshore and the nearby cities in the Western Coast, such as Nettle Hills, Sarhess, and Vectra, the Plegadians do not overly rely on the resources the traders bring.
