Narbanden (pronounced narr-BAHN-den) is a city in northern Amshan, the largest in the Karzinu province. Though it was not one of the early Amshani settlements on the northern coast of the Kirnashal Sea, Narbanden has nonetheless grown into the largest of them, owing primarily to its location in the Red Bay at the mouth of the Titan's River. It is the most common southern terminus of the Hundred Days Road, and for those traveling north from the Amshani core territories, the last place of significant size to stock up on supplies and recruit for a caravan before entering the Aban Steppe.

While clearly built in the image of the great Amshani cities of the south, in Narbanden reality has not caught up to ambition. The wealthier core of the city contains wide paved thoroughfares, singing buildings, and temple gardens, all expertly constructed, but moving outwards towards the city's edge it becomes considerably less elaborate, the stone brick roads giving way to dirt and the dwellings, stores, and workshops very evidently built more hastily. To a degree this is a result of the relative newness of Narbanden - it has not had the centuries to build up and refine its architecture and urban environment that southern Amshan has enjoyed.

Narbanden is ruled by the Rhem clan and two clerics appointed directly by the Amshani dynast. The clan tends to remove itself from governance of the city, however, and various less than savory figures have carved up informal influence over parts of Narbanden in their stead.
