Khaxl (pronounced KHAH-ksl) is a town in southern Xatabra, roughly equidistant from the Xowar River and the eastern branch of the Keteze River. Like most Xatabran settlements, its population is largely semi-permanent, with many lizardfolk staying for a time before departing once again to resume their nomadic lifestyles.

While the majority of Khaxl's inhabitants are lizardfolk, it is also home to a small yet thriving dwarven population, descendants of Kharakunite traders who long ago decided to settle down.

At the center of Khaxl lies the Shellhouse, used as a place for the tribal elders of the town to convene. The structure of the Shellhouse is composed of the 50 foot long carapace of a massive cragshell tortoise. Though the creature is presumably long deceased, as cragshells rarely last long without their armor and its shell has been in the town for many generations, it is often viewed with a combination affection and reverence by those who live in Khaxl, elevated to the status of a protector spirit amongst some.
