Lake Nulukkhaz (pronounced null-uck-HAZ) is a large inland body of water on past the southern edge of the Sangora Desolation. The region around the lake is considerably greener and more verdant than the surrounding desert, including many marshes and floodplains. Lake Nulukkhaz is fed by a number of rivers, most notably the Rokkuz, Keteze, Xowar, and Yarbus, which are themselves fed by seasonal rains and snow melt in the Skysprings. From the lake water flows north into the Aur River.
Thousands of years ago, the nation of Khapesh once controlled the banks of the Aur as far south as Lake Nulukkhaz - ruins of old fortifications and tombs still line the lake, especially along its northern shores. The descendants of some of these Khapeshans still reside in the area, but today most of those who live along the lake are Xatabran lizardfolk.
