The Red Lands is the Khapeshan term for the deserts on either side of the Aur River. Part of the Sangora Desolation, the Red Lands are inhospitable to most.

The Red Lands are a barren wasteland of rocky sand and dunes. Small shrubs and cacti, well adapted to live in these dry conditions, are the only vegetation to be seen. Few choose to travel through these harsh conditions, much less live in it.

Most of the population of the Red Lands are kasatha, who have a long history with Khapeshan civilization.

The Black Lands is the counterpart of the Red Lands, a term used by Khapeshans to refer to the lands immediately surrounding the Aur River.
