Meroitic (pronounced mare-oh-IH-tic) is a regional language spoken primarily by the population of Khapesh. An evolution of the older and now entirely scholarly Old Khapeshan language, written Meroitic has a reputation as difficult to learn due to its complex grammar and practice of requiring vowels to be inferred.

Meroitic is also used outside Khapesh by people living around the eastern coast of the Chaska Sea and the northern Kilche Sea, most notably within Akhom and Rudamun. As Common is widely used within Khapesh as a diplomatic and trade language, those that are fluent in Meroitic are frequently also able to hold a conversation in Common as well, and therefore the native Khapeshan language sees relatively little use outside of the desert kingdom's close sphere of influence.

Meroitic has a large vocabulary specifically relating to matters of desert life, arcane magic, and the dead and undead.
