New Era is the capital of Sangiran. Located on the eastern shores of the Lake of All Futures, New Era was constructed as a planned city in the seventh millennium following the precise instructions laid out by the Eternal Suzerain themself. It replaced the original imperial capital of Tairikka.
Designed as a display of imperial power and glory, New Era is divided into six districts, each one representing a constituent province. These were originally built following typical regional architecture and sensibilities, and populated with immigrants from each. Though such lines have faded with time as the inhabitants of New Era have mixed over the centuries, and a great many new homes and other buildings constructed, they are still visible today. In the middle of the city is the imperial district, where the immense Divine Palace and the temple complexes can be found, with the other districts arranged around it.
The decline and breakup of the Sangiran Empire has changed New Era as well, and today the city sees far fewer visitors than it once did. Despite this, its markets, thoroughfares, and temples remain bustling, even if the previously endless procession of diplomats and tribute missions are nowhere to be seen.
