Merulus (pronounced mer-OOH-lus) of the Numida dynasty was the first king of Viridia. In the early years of the eighth millenium, Merulus carved a realm for himself out of the disparate patchwork of nations in western Thadria before declaring himself monarch of the new nation in Y7030*.
A prolific writer, Merulus is remembered today as a philosopher-general, as gifted of a thinker as he was a military strategist. Many of his works, especially those addressing the morality of rulership, continue to be studied by Viridian scholars today.
