The Fringe Route is a land route taken by travelers in the Stormlands who seek to avoid the worst of the Storm-Path. It usually considered to terminate in the north at the city of Qaqan near the southern edge of the Tazak Mountains, and in the south at the bastion of Shiverfort on the margins of Akatzar.
While certainly safer than braving the hazards of the Storm-Path and the Great Tempests, the Fringe Route is by no means an easy journey. Most of the path lies in the eastern shadow of the Amanas Mountains, where all manner of dangerous creatures thrive. By and large travelers are safe from bandits, however - while not entirely absent, between how few take the Fringe Route and the persistent environmental concerns like random storm-flares it is rarely worth waiting in ambush to accost the unwary.
