Wind-wither, also known as storm rot, is a wasting disease endemic to the Trailblazer Republics and in other lands on the margins of the Storm-Path. It is caused by exposure to negative energy from the Great Tempests in such a way that the energy does not immediately harm the body but rather is absorbed by it, causing slow degeneration of muscle, bone, and flesh. Early symptoms include lethargy and persistent aches, gradually escalating into necrosis and loss of limb function. It is common for those who die from wind-wither, as the disease is almost invariably fatal, to rise as undead.

Treatment of wind-wither, while possible, is quite difficult, and outside the abilities of most healers. Most afflicted are unable to find, or afford, a mundane or magical healer able to aid them. Natural recovery from wind-wither is effectively unknown.
