The Illan Peaks (pronounced ILL-an) are a small mountain range on the northern edge of the Oasis, though at times the Storm-Path shifts and the Great Tempests pass through the mountains. The Peaks are very rocky, with almost all of the soil that once covered them stripped away, and therefore are home to little plant and animal life except for those that can find niches in its many caves and passages. The snowcaps of the mountains are usually tinged red with soil picked up by the Tempests.

The only permanent inhabitants of the Illan Peaks are the dwarves of Haran Gurr, who have built their capital, and only surface city, of Naral Paath within a long, scoured cliff face on the southern side of the range facing the Oasis. Other Oasis nations, Qems and Reshan, both claim territory that reaches or even stretches into the Peaks, yet functionally maintain little to no control of the land, as very few live there.
