The Southern Rim is a mountain range in the Stormlands that separates the Storm-Path from the Zkher Steppe. The northern side of the range, facing the Great Tempests, has been scoured nearly free of soil over the millennia, and as a result little grows there, even if the southern side of the range is the site of many high elevation forests. The mountains are a relative refuge from the harsh terrain surrounding them, and some Trailblazers who do not gather in the wandering towns instead live in hideouts within the Southern Rim, usually in well-protected caves.
