Tasha (pronounced TAH-shah) is the northernmost major city in Oscan, and one of the few spared from the undead hordes that rose across the kingdom in Y9940*. Now led by General Tarchon Lasa, the few remaining members of the Lionwatch, and and a small fraction of the once-mighty Oscan military, the city continues to hold out against the seemingly ceaseless undead, hoping for the arrival of support from outside.
Tasha is located in the dry scrublands of the southern Sangora Desolation. Surrounded by inhospitable terrain, the people of the city have built intricate irrigation networks to efficiently grow their crops using the little rainfall they receive. Since the outbreak of the undead, farms as well as living quarters and storage spaces have been dug into the sandstone caves beneath the city. The tall walls surrounding the city's core were once the subject of jokes among Oscans, considered a foolish vanity project ordered by a past monarch. In modern Oscan, however, these walls have helped greatly in repelling the undead hordes that sometimes find their way north to Tasha. The city sees far fewer undead visitors than can be found in southern Oscan, but has to face these threats all the same.
Functionally, the Deathlands have had no government since the collapse of the kingdom decades ago. Tasha is under a military protectorate, led by General Tarchon Lasa and the remainder of his forces. Disobeying orders is punished harshly here, though most understand this is a consequence of the lack of resources and persistent undead threat they face.
Though the government of Tasha tries hard to quash these beliefs, underground cults to both Lotan and Erra have formed in the city. While the former actively attempts to undermine the security of the city, the latter still pose a problem by refusing to work and proselytizing others to join their nihilistic religion.
