The Ucrisla Tidewall (pronounced ooh-CREES-lah) are a series of barrier islands near the eastern shoreline of the Gulf of Aserdus. The Tidewall was originally built by the elves of Eita sometime in the late second millennium to control storm surges and flooding along the coast near the city of Ucrisla. When Ucrisla was abandoned around Y5100* during Eita's contraction back to the Cradle, maintenance on the Tidewall ceased as well.
With a lack of upkeep, the Tidewall has gradually disintegrated. The once almost 70 mile long solid wall of sand and rock, unbroken save for three gaps designed to allow the controlled passage of water and ships, has transformed into a series of barrier islands. Beach plants and animals of the shoreline long ago gained purchase on the islands, and today there is little remaining evidence that the Tidewall was artificially constructed.
The Mamurat, an isolated group of elves, have lived on the Ucrisla Tidewall for millennia. Other than their nomadic bands, the Tidewall has no permanent inhabitants.
