The Sentinel Peaks are a major mountain range that runs north of Hellea, between the Phiora Sea in the east and the Invelaust Ocean in the west. Rugged and wild, these mountains are highly treacherous to all but the hardiest and most skilled travelers. Historically the Sentinel Peaks have served to separate the nations of Hellea from the nomadic peoples to the north, though with increased settlement in Asteria this is much less the case today.

The Sentinel Peaks are widely considered to be divided into two subranges. A large pass between the mountains northeast of Ephardia bisects the range. The Asterian Trail runs through this pass, as it is the only easily-navigable route through the mountains.

To the people of Talgazan and others that follow the Talgazan pantheon, the mountain range is known as Ubilai's Spine (pronounced OOH-bih-lie). The mountains are believed to be the bones of the god Ubilai, torn from his body and thrown to the world after his defeat by the other gods. There is a strong superstition against climbing the peaks or even getting too close, as the god holds greater influence in the mortal world at his Spine.

Among other creatures, numerous white dragons live in the Sentinel Peaks.
