Fala's Archive (pronounced FAH-lah) is a rumored hidden repository of lost elven knowledge, supposedly located somewhere in southern Brightmarch. The archive takes its name from the elven scholar Fala, one of the last known residents of the aeroliths to leave the cloistered flying cities and return to life on the surface. According to him, the master aerotheurge of Ataiun buried the cache sometime around Y8100* in order to ensure the information was not lost if the flying city were to meet some tragic fate.
None are quite sure what the archive contains, as during his life Fala was notoriously unwilling to divulge major details. Scholars most familiar with the rumor believe the archive to be a repository of knowledge, perhaps in the form of books or scrolls, though others have proposed a number of disagreeing possibilities.
Despite Fala's claims, or perhaps because of them, many disregard the rumors of the archive entirely, pointing to the numerous and often egregious inconsistencies in the elf's story, especially after he altered it in his decades on the ground. These dissenters also point to the fact that Fala never resided on Ataiun, which even before his lifetime had closed itself off even to the inhabitants of other aeroliths, and therefore he had no reasonable way to learn the information he claimed - though in his earlier life he had lived on an aerolith, he called the flying city of Teriasa home, not Ataiun.
Among those that do believe of its existence, Fala's Archive is said to be somewhere near Sharruma or Where The Water Flies, but none of the many expeditions that have attempted to locate it have yet had any luck.
