Kartala (pronounced kar-TAH-lah) is a small city in Talam Galta, located where the River Archar flows into the Bay of Dark Skies. Once one of the larger cities in eastern Koritan, its inhabitants suffered greatly in the early years of Talam Galta's war for independence, with those who survived turned into refugees and much of the community destroyed. Today even what is left is largely abandoned, Kartala a pale shadow of its former size. Directly across the river from the city lies territory still under the control of Koritan.
