Tantamani cache

From gronkfinder

The Tantamani cache (pronounced tahn-tah-MAH-nee) is a collection of tablets unearthed near the town of Tantamani where the Aur River flows into Lake Nulukkhaz. The tablets, dating to the middle years of Khapesh's Age of Expansion, are primarily diplomatic letters addressed to a succession of Khapeshan monarchs, starting with Khentimeresh but continuing for at least two hundred years after the end of his reign.

Tablets in the Tantamani cache were primarily sent by Khapeshan vassals or peer states, though some were written by Khapeshan monarchs themselves in response, presumably unsent. The tablets have proven valuable as sources of information about the relations between Khapesh and Akhom, Amshan, the Eastern Chaskan city-states, and others. Some include the only known references to otherwise lost peoples and places, such as the Bel-Shimanni, who were seemingly a nomadic seafaring people of the eastern Chaska Sea, and the Siluku, a troublesome group who harassed Khapeshan vassal city-states in the Western Coast.

How the tablets found their way to Tantamani is unclear - the city was at the southernmost point of Khapeshan expansion, and rather quickly lost by central rule. Aside from a handful of tombs of local elites, few other notable artifacts have been found around Tantamani from this time period.

The cache was discovered in the early years of the Y9900s by a group of adventurers, after which they were delivered to the grand library in Sakha. With only a few exceptions, the tablets can still be found there, available for study by scholars yet carefully protected.
