Sanctuary is a small underwater town in the Na-Gaesa Ocean to the southwest of the Old Twins. Almost entirely populated by the Escaped, former residents of the Rasharekan city of Kana-Bere who turned themselves undead to flee the initial demonic invasion of the Old Twins in Y9266*, Sanctuary was established after the undead walked for hundreds of miles before finding a secluded subterranean canyon. There they set up a new community, away from the demons, where they have stayed for the last seven hundred years.
Few know of the presence of the undead at Sanctuary, and even fewer have joined them, though over the centuries perhaps half a dozen locathah and aquatic elves have made Sanctuary their home for at least a short time. Even the Xitaxokhu leave Sanctuary alone out of an unusual mix of fear and admiration for those who would resort to such extremes. In recent years, however, as the demons expand ever-outward on their seasonal incursions, the people of Sanctuary have begun to look with dread at what they see as the inevitable prospect of moving farther out to sea once more.
