Fires of Mlusna

From gronkfinder

The Fires of Mlusna (pronounced m-LOOSE-nah) was an event in Y2900* where an asteroid being pulled from space by Eitan aerotheurges disintegrated and burned in the upper atmosphere of Kishar. Intended for use in a new aerolith to be named Mlusna, the fragments of the asteroid that survived entry into the atmosphere splashed into the Mhasmuth Ocean south of Cape Eklo in the Laqto Rainforest.

The lights generated as the asteroid burned were visible for hundreds of miles, and the ensuing tsunami from its impact into the sea reached as far away as Kea Racha and the Gulf of Timakal.

Modern-day historians use accounts of the Fires of Mlusna to date oral histories and written works of uncertain age - so spectacular was the event that cultures far away from its epicenter wrote and maintained stories of a vast field of fire descending from the night sky. This has proven especially useful for providing a frame of reference for dating the narratives of the peoples of Brightmarch and the Laqto Rainforest, who have traditionally eschewed strict chronologies.
