The Ancas Mountains (pronounced AHN-cahs) are a major mountain range that runs roughly northwest to southeast on the island of Meklaw. The tall peaks of the Ancas are one of the most defining geographical features of the island and the source of most of its rivers.
The tengu of Meklaw have long resided in the Ancas Mountains. Even before their sprawling seaside cities and ports were founded the mountainside cities in the Ancas were well-established, built upon elaborate series of terraces to increase the amount of usable space in the rough terrain. A number of ancient hanging monasteries can be found in the Ancas Mountains as well, open structures precariously suspended by networks of rope and wood beams.
