A lakon ghost (pronounced LAH-con), also known as an anti-ghost or a severer ghost, is a type of ghost found in Talgazan, eastern Rothurland. and parts of old Razgovir. To followers of the Talgazan pantheon, lakon ghosts serve as spiritual antagonists who seek to break the connection other ghosts have to the material world.
Lakon ghosts do not truly differ in form, appearance, or ability when compared to the benevolent ghosts of Talgazan. Rather, the distinction arises purely from their actions. Instead of congregating in a sedate manner around mortals, like the venerated ghosts of Talgazan do around campfires especially, lakon ghosts seem to be single-mindedly devoted to removing the remaining ties their kin have to mortals, effectively banishing them forever. This they do by seeking out and absorbing the spiritual essence of other ghosts, after which the combined entity fades from existence. Like other Talgazan ghosts, lakon ghosts either do not speak or their speech is considered to not be literal, and as a result their motives are not well-understood.
