The Lurker in the Tall Waves is a creature known to many peoples of the Wounds, with countless tales and legends telling of its existence. Though descriptions vary across cultures, most describe the Lurker as a formless entity, or else one that takes the structure of water, that resides in the depths of the ocean. In times of strong storms, however, it ventures closer to shore, where it waits to swallow those who too to the water, after which it grinds their bones to sand and discards their flesh to the fish. While to some the Lurker in the Tall Waves is only a story to dissuade unsafe behavior, most believe it to be very real.
