House Raman (pronounced rah-MAHN) is a Viridian senatorial family. They have for centuries been the dominant family in the city of Sikaya, within the province of Andera, though they have traditionally preferred to rule indirectly, letting others take the governorship as long as their interests are respected should they ask.
Like the vast majority of senatorial families, House Raman acquired their status in the aftermath of the Dominion's initial expansion east across Thadria, elevated from amongst the previous local leaders of the region. While it is common for these families to raise their long histories as a point of pride, few specifically bring attention to the exact positions of their ancestors, as rule over the various petty realms and tribes of ancient Thadria is seen as something shameful, or at least far below their current status. Not so with House Raman. The family frequently styles themselves as the inheritors of the hero-kings of the Casabon, and even adopts ancient Thadrian names - the current head of the family, Katahziwur Raman, has a name of this origin. Much controversy has come of this, with some Disciples of the Peerless Sun denouncing the senatorial family as secret hero-worshipers.
