The Rekan River (pronounced REH-can) is a major river in Izgrev that begins in the foothills of the Runewith Mountains before flowing east and south into the Byala River and from there into the Phiora Sea. Once one of the more populous regions of old Razgovir, since Y9735* the lands around the Rekan River have been depopulated after Koritanite battlemages laid curses upon the landscape that have continued to warp on their own.
Today none save for the most foolhardy or confident travel along or near the Rekan River. It is home only to mutated fish-like creatures, preyed upon by shark-serpents, magiovores, and skull-shapers, all of whom thrive in the murky and often explosive waters.
