The Gekhuknaka Trench (pronounced gehkh-hoohk-NAH-khah) is a deep oceanic trench in the western Wounds. Roughly 900 miles in length and up to 40 miles wide, it is the deepest point in the Wounds, reaching depths of over 40,000 feet. The ice-cold waters at those levels of the ocean are home to terrifying sea creatures, largely unknown to the broader world except when, on rare occasion, they rise closer to the surface, die, and wash up to shore. The only permanent inhabitants of the Gekhuknaka Trench are the Xitaxokhu sahuagin, who live in cities nestled against the walls of the trench - even to them its deepest points hold untold mysteries.
Though it largely runs southwest to northeast, the Gekhuknaka Trench curves more towards the east on its northern half.
The Gekhuknaka Trench is roughly 560 miles northwest of Cerca, 400 miles south of the Old Twins, and 330 miles west of the Protectors.
