Phoenix Crest is a town in the Tamkaranu colony of Ashnan. A small community located in the grasslands in the northern part of the colony, the settlement predates the beginning of the colony by several hundred years.

Phoenix Crest is an important site in Ashnan folklore, and especially to followers of the Cult of the Phoenix, a local faith. The town gained its name from a legend that the first inhabitants of the settlement were guided to that spot centuries ago by a benevolent phoenix who had observed their long struggles.

In the midst of the Long Ten Years, a period of near-famine in Ashnan as its agricultural output was largely shipped across the Chaska Sea to mitigate crop failure in Tamkaranu, the people of Phoenix Crest launched an armed uprising against colonial rule. Colonial troops associated with the trade coalitions successfully put down the first rebellion in early Y9965*, but a second attempt soon followed. The town's phoenix is said to have returned, spreading its massive wings in a gesture of hope and solidarity. Renewed, the residents of Phoenix Crest launched a renewed uprising, this time pushing the forces of the Balanos Consortium out of the town. Phoenix Crest has maintained its autonomy since, something its inhabitants credit to their faith in their fiery symbol of hope.

Phoenix Crest has been functionally autonomous since Y9965*, the first settlement to be loosed from colonial control. Now led by a council formed by the Lamplighters, Phoenix Crest is both an important base and a symbol to the rebellion.
