The Sea of Ersas (pronounced air-SAS) is a major body of water in the northern Chaska Sea between Hellea and Thadria. The sea is full of islands and archipelagoes, many of which have a long history of habitation.

Inhabitants

The Sea of Ersas is very important to all nations in and around it. Viridia controls almost all of the sea's eastern coastline, while the west is split between the Hellean states of Iaramnae and the Halakran League. Independent towns and cities can be found across the countless islands alongside a number of subsurface communities. Influence and control over these city-states are hotly contested by Iaramnae and the Halakran League, who both seek to leverage the wealth brought by their mercantile materials towards their own aims.

Many islands in the Sea of Ersas are the locations of cyclopean ruins, abandoned millennia ago and left to decay. Some of these have been repurposed and reoccupied by smaller folk, though a handful of cyclops have since returned as well.

Geography

The Sea of Ersas is bordered to the east by Thadria and to the west by Hellea. Islands of varying sizes are very common in the sea, from the smallest rocky islets to the large landmass of Eretrebus Major. Mostly found in the south, a few islands are still volcanic ally active.

To the east the Sea of Ersas flows into the Bay of Ertan. To the northwest the sea joins with the Gulf of Teneucia.

The climate of the sea is generally on the warmer side of temperate. Major storms are uncommon, and the sea has a moderating effect on the weather of the surrounding lands.

In the north, the Tanerde Strait connects the Sea of Ersas to the Phiora Sea.
