Wise Fool's Day is a holiday celebrated in Viridia, particularly in parts of central and southern Thadria. Occurring yearly on the last day of spring, participants in the festivities of Wise Fool's Day dress up in costumes resembling owls as they pull pranks on their friends and neighbors. As with many Thadrian practices, the holiday began long ago to commemorate and celebrate the folk hero Kanu-Dunn, said to have been incredibly perceptive and astute despite his bumbling ways. Just as he would move carelessly and aimlessly yet jovially through life, so too do those who celebrate Wise Fool's Day, for at least one day of the year.
As Kanu-Dunn was once worshiped as a hero, the holiday has religious roots, yet the modern festivities are almost entirely divorced from this. Certain sects of the faiths of Chaskan deities have long intentionally attempted to suppress pre-Viridian Thadrian beliefs - Kanu-Dunn's holiday has been affected by this along with many others.
