Light-touched elves are the descendants of deep elves who, through prolonged life outside the Depths, have begun to once again resemble their surface-dwelling kin.
Appearance
Light-touched elves vary greatly in appearance, depending on how many generations they have lived on the surface. Those whose ancestors returned from the Depths long ago look little different from other elves, having regained the dark skin typically associated with elves who live under the sun, though the deep elf sensitivity to light or vestigial eyes tend to last significantly longer.
Culture
Many deep elves who have contact with the world outside the Depths take pride in their distinction from other elves, and therefore seek to avoid any exposure to the sun that would cause their children to begin to display the traits of light-touched elves. Those of Xorshala, for example, are strictly only active at night in order to keep their propensity for darkness.
Though some light-touched elves rejoin broader elven society, prejudice against them is unfortunately not uncommon, leading many to hide or otherwise disguise their ancestry.
