Sunspires are giant crystals that lie atop the mountain peaks in Kharakun, each a prismatic obelisk hundreds of feet tall. None are quite sure when or how these were moved to the surface, as they are presumed to have come from the crystal caves under the mountains, but they are certainly highly out of place in their current locations. These lightly tinted, almost clear crystals catch and diffuse sunlight that strikes them, casting an array of colors across the surrounding buildings and landscapes.
Around the sunspires the giants of Kharakun have built their communities - the term is used in the region to refer to the crystals and their surrounding settlements interchangeably. The homes, shops, and other structures used by the giants are constructed primarily out of wood hauled up from lower altitudes. In order to grow their cities on the rough slopes of the mountains, terraces have been cut to provide enough building space.

Other collapsed ones exist. Most have simply fallen, perhaps in earthquakes or some other mundane events, but one on the surface above Vultum appears to have been violently shattered.
