The Restone Plague (pronounced RESS-tone) was a disease that first appeared in near-simultaneous outbreaks in the Erenite cities of Restone, Steel Falls, and Talgell in Y9613*. Those unfortunate enough to be exposed to the disease became infected very rapidly, displaying symptoms in no more than a week. Symptoms were very noticeable: large abscesses, high fevers and delirium, and eventually necrosis of extremities. Compounded by the outbreak of the Euphoric Insanity soon after, the plague quickly swept through Erenite towns and cities. Before the disease burned itself out it resulted in the depopulation of Erenon and the deaths of almost half of the province's former inhabitants. No known cases of the Restone Plague have been reported for centuries.
The Restone Plague was highly resistant to magical healing. Clerics and other healers sent to aid the province during the initial outbreak proved unable to do more than limit the extant of the disease's spread.
In Y9975*, a pair of adventures discovered the origins of the Restone Plague. Rather than being an outbreak of a natural but previously unknown disease, the plague was intentionally created and spread by Gavros Saekoll. An Erenite noble and Viridian senator, Saekoll intended to use the souls of those that succumbed to the disease to power a magical contraption he had devised to repair and reactivate an Anchor Site within the province. Despite the many casualties, his plan partially failed, leaving his device with insufficient magical power to work successfully.
