The Atesh Renewers (pronounced ah-TESH) are a group of druids who seek to aid natural cycles of rebirth through the use of controlled burns. The Renewers are primarily active within the Viridian provinces of Ertan, Tumunzar, and Attalea Major, where they frequently come into conflict with Viridian administrators who would rather see the forests of the region preserved unchanged.
Location
While the Atesh Renewers are at least nominally globally distributed, most of their present activities are limited to western Thadria.
Interests and activities
The Renewers seek to ensure the forests and plains of the world are allowed to see periodic burns to aid in their continued growth. While they generally prefer to let this process take place naturally, in cases where wildfires have been long suppressed the Renewers will attempt to start blazes themselves.
Among the Atesh Renewers, some druids are devout followers of Atreia; these druids are likely to take their activities further and actively seek out corrupted and tainted places within the world to burn away.
Relations
Though their opponents frequently characterize the Renewers as extremists who wish to raze cities to the ground to make way for the return of nature, with the exception of a very few zealots the Renewers do not seek any change to major population centers. Their attempts to burn the forests and plains of eastern Thadria, however, have caused major disputes and even hostilities with Viridian administrators, who see the Renewers as a threat to the farmland and small villages that account for much of the land area of the region.
